Vivienne sent me a word document with the story that follows her piece and I would love to share that with you all through her photos.
The book folded up, tied with a bow and inserted in the box.
The six pages of the book opened, concertina style.
Page One:
The bottle is thrown from a sailing ship by a sailor who is afraid that the approaching storm may sink his ship. There is a fine gold dotted line which charts the progress of the bottle as it travels through the pages. Each of the white felt sails of the ship were blanket stitched in place individually before I stitched the masts and rigging.

Before it reaches the surface, the bottle travels over the top of a coral reef.

And eventually is carried by a huge surf towards the shore.

Page Five:
Until it arrives on a beach. A beach polluted with dead sea animals – a turtle trapped in rope, a duck with an elastic band around its neck, fish caught in a piece of net, a rubber shoe, bottles and a tin can, plastic, beaded oil slick......all thrown into the ocean by mankind. The bottle lies on the beach until eventually people arrive who understand the problem and set about cleaning up the oceans, the beaches and educating the general public to treat our planet with respect again.....the message, a simple S.O.S. is no longer relevant to an anxious sailer who we have to presume got home safely, it is for our Planet Earth.

Finally, we see a pristine clean beach with dolphins playing in the ocean, butterflies in the air above fresh sea grasses in bright sunshine. Two surfers have left their boards propped in the sand while they take a break and the surfboards tell the story.

These are all amazing! What imagination!
Maybe I will be ready for the next challenge :)
awesome eye candy-thank you for sharing
Very lovely work by each lady. Each should be very proud of their accomplishment and enjoy their win! But I do have to say that the book is my absolute favorite! What an inspiring story for the theme you had given them. Each block is a work of art in its own. These ladies should be very pleased with the results of the challenge.
My Oh My! Such beautiful CQ work. Congratulations to each and everyone. Blissful Stitching...

Congratulations to all the ladies for their entries. I had a blast working on my entry and really enjoyed the challenge - looking forward to the next one! I really loved the message that Viv's book told and how she depicted it with all the elements you gave us to use.
