4 Fabulous Finishes!!

I have been super busy in the quilting studio!!  This project has been ongoing for the past 2 1/2 years and I am SOOOO glad to say that it is FINISHED!!

In June 2007 a friend of mine, Bonnie Minor, from the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum was having twins.  I wanted to make her a baby quilt for each twin and the other ladies on the board wanted to do something for her too.  So I hatched the idea to make her a siggy baby quilt for each child.  She also has an older child so we collected siggies to make all 3 children a quilt.

My mom was diagnosed with cancer around the time the last of the siggy blocks were sent in and this project soon found itself on the backburner.

Well, I revived the project last week and now all 3 quilts are on their way home to the children!  I know they will be so excited to find a wrapped gift inside the box for each of them!!  I cant wait to see the expressions on their faces when they unwrap their quilts!

55 members of the forum sent in the siggy blocks and I pieced the quilt tops and quilted them on my Gammill machine!

Don't you think the children will love snuggling under these??

This next quilt is a secret....SHHHHHH....but I have to upload it for it to count in the OPAM Challenge that I am participating in!  When I finished quilting the 2nd pink quilt for the children, instead of changing thread to blue for the little boys quilt, I went ahead and put this one on the machine since it was going to be quilted in the same pink thread!  This quilt is headed to a good friend of mine!!  But mums the word until it reaches its destination!!
Well this is the 31st and it is 3 hours from midnight so along with the other few things I did accomplish this month, I would say I did pretty darn good!! YAY ME!!!

Dotee Dolls

I made these Dotee Dolls this month.  I was asked to do a live tutorial on how to make them for the ladies on the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum.  I was happy to show them how I make mine.  Dot from Australia is the designer of these cute little things!  She gave me permission to host swaps on the quilting forum using her dolls.  The ladies over there have had TONS of fun making and swapping these babies. :)

I had promised a friend of mine that I would make and send her a doll some time ago so the one I made for the tutorial went to her.  I also made a second one and sent her to a friend in my home state of Alabama.

Allie's Crayola Keep

I was asked to do a live tutorial on this Crayola Keep for the ladies on the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum for the month of March.  I was more than happy to oblige them. :)

I made this Crayola Keep for my granddaughter.  She loves anything pink and the poodles on the fabric inside are just way too cute!

Allie's Easter Frock

My mother in law made Allie's Eaaster dress and we had enough fabric left just to make her a purse and dress a hat up for her. We went to the Cracker Barrel today and got the hat which had a pink flower and ribbon band around it. I took that off and will use those items for some CQ work later. Mildred did Shadow Stitching on the white waistband of the dress. Tons of tee tiny stitches...all done from behind on batiste fabric...I made a flower and a new hatband out of her dress fabric. I used 2 pieces of pipe cleaners to make her purse handle...I beaded it up, sewed it to the sides for stability...and now she has a really cool purse to tote, that matches her hat and dress. The button is just sewed on but I have velcro under the flap. i thought it would be easier for her to open and shut it. I also did French seams inside and it is lined. She will be so cute on Easter Sunday! :)

Where I Have Been...

Locked in my sewing room!!

I have worked at least 100 hours on this block for my mother in law's birthday gift.  Her day is coming up in April and I needed to finish it so I could get it framed.  I am looking forward to presenting her with this gift!

Do you think she will like it??
