My friend Marie came over this morning and we sewed until lunch! I so enjoy getting together with friends to sew. It is funny how you can get engrossed in what you are working on and sit for several minutes without speaking to each other. Then you go to giggling because you realize you both have sat through several moments of silence. Men only think we talk all the time. lol
I have been working on a surprise quilt for my hubby. I bought these fabrics with a quilt for him in mind and have the top finished except the borders. I would have added them today but he was downstairs and I could not get his current lap-quilt to measure it by without him wanting to know what I was doing. I am thinking with the borders I will add that it will be large enough but I want to be sure before I sew them on. Here it is in its current progress state. These fabrics are a soft brushed cotton that have a very close resemblance to wool. It is really hard to tell the difference as the wool feel is so evident in them. SO warm and cozy feeling!
I found these fabrics at Hancock's of Paducah!
Since I couldn't add borders to the quilt I started working on a few blocks that I need for a swap. We are making 9 blocks, each at 8 1/2" square from black Kona. We each chose a different color...mine being orange... to stitch hearts designs on to our blocks.... kind of in the red-work fashion. I have a good start on 2 of my blocks.
Marie was working on cutting out some pincushions we need for another swap we are in together. She did not get anything stitched up but this is the pattern she is using. It is Oliver The Owl by Heirlooms by Ashland House. It is blogged over at Aunt Tilly's House. This is a fabulous pattern so head on over there and score yourself one!
