So, I decided that instead of being a little biased... I would be a little antique... ha! .. And as we all know... When we are a little antique, we can wear any and all colors together and wear big flowers in our hair cause it doesn't matter. We just wanna' have fun!
All of the fabrics that went in to creating my piece were cut from the vintage fabric squares! I sewed 2 pieces together to get my background and used another piece for the borders. Her dress, sunglasses, hair, hand and face are all vintage fabrics! I hope you love her as much as I do!
Here is a close up... Don't look at my embroidery too closely.. I am not the brightest student when it comes to embroidery! I quilted around her body and around the borders, stitching in the ditch, and then put a back on it and sewed it in the pillowcase method. Now it is ready for some fluffy stuffing and to be made in to a pillow!
I also wanted to show you what I am doing with the vintage squares.. I am bordering them with solid white fabric and then sashing them together with solid black. This way the entire piece of vintage fabric is showcased. I will have about 7 quilts in various sizes when I finish with them.

Love the quilts. They are the perfect way to show of your vintage squares. Your vintage lady is very cool. I prefer vintage to antique. She does make me think of the commercial though. "I'm so old I went to the antique store and they sold ME!

I love vintage too. I suppose a lot of my fabric stash might be considered vintage depending on how many years back you count, lol.
Great use of the vintage and the purple dress, I know that somewhere I have a southern Belle block that was appliqued and embroidered by one of my ex husband's grandmothers.
She is great !! That fabric is so nice too.

Nicely done with a unique antique twist, way to go. thanks for sharing. Jane
I don't know what is worse, no computer or no sewing machine! Thank God I have a back-up sewing machine or I'd be bored to death. Love your quilt with the vintage squares. I have been re-organizing my sewing porch getting ready for a move, so I have lots of vintage(old) fabric that I have to use so my husband doesn't make me give it away or throw it out! Some men don't appreciate fabric. I don't collect shoes, pricey knick-knacks or expensive jewelry like other women I see on TV. So how do I make a case for keeping my stash? I love your It's all about me version of AB's pattern. She sure has a way of incorporating humor in her designs. I did a cat artist a while back for a colleague. Thanks for sharing.
I like you went 'antique' with your hanging. What a tremendous find on your part.
I love the way you are using them as the focus in your quilts! Thanks for sharing.
