The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Witch!

hehehehehehehehehehehe Come here my pretties......

Today is day #2 on the Wicked Blog Hop dreamed up by Madame Samm and  hosted by Wicked Wendy !  This is going to be an awesome blog hop for all of you Halloween lovers!!  There are going to be witches and goblins and black cats a' plenty!!  So come on in with your costumes on and enjoy the party!  I have my witches cauldron brewing and will be serving up some spider cider tonight! yum yum!

I just got word that there are some other quilters handing out Halloween candy today so when you are full of spider cider, take off to the other parties to see what they have for you!!

Terrifying Tuesday
23rd of October

My first initial idea was to do a witches hat in the crazy quilt design but then I heard there might be some other crazy quilting going on and I wanted to do something different.  I love working with batiks and black fabric.  I googled free witch patterns online and found Sonja's blog with this wicked witch all done up in paper piecing! arrgghhh
I DO NOT DO PAPER PIECING! IT HATES ME!!
As much as I hate spiders!!
So, I improvised! ha!!!
A little Steam A Seam lite does the trick!!  I traced around the paper pieced pattern shape and ironed me some fusible to the black fabric and in no time I had me some witches flying on their brooms! ha!
I wanted to do a table runner but 4 turned out to be too long but 3 was just perfect!
I will have to make a candle mat with the 4th block!
I wanted to show you a little quilt that my friend Donna sent to me last year.  I think I blogged it but don't remember if I did so I am showing it anyway.  I just love it and it has Halloween written all over it!
It plays so nicely with the witches. :)
And I must show you a beautiful witch dotee doll that my friend Lois made for me!  Art of this caliber should be shared and it doesn't matter how many times! :)

The backside of her dress is so pretty!

Spider and all!
And look... She is holding a pig charm in her hand!
She better not put him in her cauldron!!!
I hope you have enjoyed my Halloween Wicked Party!!
I have something to give away to one lucky reader!!
CANDY!!!!
These 2 Halloween towels and a bag of Tootsie Roll Pops is going to come flying in on my witches broom to one lucky person!  Yes, you aren't seeing things... My hubby ate your candy!!  BUT, I will buy another bag!  I promise!
Please leave me a comment to get your name in my pot!!
..... and make sure your email is available in your profile and if it isn't, leave it in your comment!
Happy Halloween everyone!!

You came up with a lovely solution to your paper piecing whoas! I think your blocks and runner are fabulous.

Sunshine Girl said...

Oh great blocks - I have done mine in a similar way. Thanks for the opportunity to win the towels and candy - made me laugh thats it already been eaten as that would probably happen in my house too! Thanks for sharing.

Great cackle! I love the witches runner, it looks great! What better time to "cheat" than Halloween! I'll say no to the spider cider (but thanks for the offer....). Thank you for the chance to win.....just one question though...what are tootsy rolls?

Your flying witches are dazzling-don't ya just love Steam-a-seam. I certainly would be lost without those neat products. Gee, I have to hide the candy from my husband, but he usually finds it so I now buy candy he hates-peanut butter. Yes, he ate too much as a child, got sick and has hated ever since. So that's my strategy. Thanks for sharing your handsome projects.

Gene Black said...

Cooolness, I need to remember that "cheat" for paper piecing. (don't put me in the drawing)

Love your witches. Paper piecing and I don't get along much either. The background fabric is perfect!!

Dear Hubby, I so can understand. I keep having to buy more Halloween candy...I keep eating the stuff that I bought for the kids.. and so I go buy more. I need to learn to buy them yucky candy instead of candy bars!!

Thearica said...

Well.. I will have to say, I did sneak a lollypop or two but hubby did eat the larger majority of them. He is a piglet. lol

Thearica said...

I LOVE the way batiks make these type of quilts pop! I think I may do a series of quilts and call it a "Study in Batiks"

Thearica said...

Thank you for coming by!

Thearica said...

She has some more awesome freebies too!

Thearica said...

I am looking at paper piecing with a new eye now. lol

Thearica said...

Thanks Julie!

Thearica said...

Can you hear my witches laugh... lol

Thearica said...

And a cool cheat it is. :)

Thearica said...

oh my hubby loves those peanut butter kisses that only come out at Halloween... He ate 10 bags last year!!!

Calicojoan said...

Now that's the idea. Why go thru all that trouble paper piecing when you can fusible applique it, and be done in half the time!!! Your witches proved it!! :-) Love the colors too!! I have stopped buying candy. We don't get trick or treaters anymore,(we live in the country) and I was the one eating it all up. I do miss seeing all those silly little faces in the night!

Congratulations on a great runner. Loved the orange/white stripe for the binding and that background batik is awesome! You have some fabulous friends who are also creative. Your little video reminds me of a house that went all out for Halloween with decorations and noises and my children had a devil of a time walking up to the door on Halloween. They always took Daddy's hand as insurance. What a sweet memory.
