I thought I had blogged about this Crazy Quilt piece that I made for my good friend Elaine, but going back though my blog, I find that I never did! I cannot believe I didn't share this piece with all of you!
My good friend Nicki hosted yet another one of her CQ One Block Swaps over on the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum and I could not pass up the chance to participate! Elaine's name was drawn for me and I was estatic! I had been wanting to create a piece for her and now was my chance! No more excuses...no more putting it off!!
Elaine had joked around with me the entire time I was creating Allie's piece for her birthday in 2010. She kept begging for it and I kept saying no. So I decided to incorporate a few of the same design options as I put in Allie's. They are still incredibly different and Elaine loves her piece as much as she would have loved getting the piece I made for Allie.
And in the end, that is all that matters right!
This is just incredibly beautiful. I don't have enough years to learn to do such gorgeous work.
This is a beautiful block I think my favorite part is the french knot hair! Great use of texture.
That is gorgeous!
Thearica this is just stunning! What a beautiful gift and I am sure that it is cherished.....
This is a BEAUTIFUL piece!!I love the wonderful knotty hair too!
I need more hours in the day...sigh!!
Lost for words! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
Thearica, this is breath-taking!
Alot of work went into that ...amazing!
It is beautiful and no words can describe how honored I am to be the new owner of this block.
Thearica is right...I hounded her about Ali's block and begged her to send it it to ME !!!Of course each time I talked to her I had to ask for it again and of course each time she told me NO NO !!
So when it came time for the CQ block swap I was thrilled and ecstatic that my block was going to be made my wonderful friend Thearica !!
I thought there would be no way she would be able to make another as beautiful as Ali's or be able to devote so much time to my block. I was wrong, very wrong.
The stitches, motifs, lace, beads are breathtakingly gorgeous and I know that every French knot, every golden thread and every stitch are made with love. I will always treasure it as I do my friendship with Thearica !!
Kath from Railway Cottaage told me of your work, so glad she did.
I also love embellished crazy patchwork.
Oh wow....you do the most stunning work. Those fairies are so beautiful with all your added stitching. So glad that you have shared this with us. :-)
