I had forgotten just how fun it was to have a youngster in the house! Allie has been here for almost a month and we have had the best time! We went upstairs this afternoon and sewed together. I bought her a learning to sew kit and while I machine embroidered a retreat bag, she sat in her chair and diligently worked on her cat and heart. I took the first 2 stitches while she watched and then handed it to her and she finished both pieces all by herself!... even the stuffing! I would smile too if I had done such a fantastic job!
And this is the retreat bag that I worked on while we were upstairs. I have a plan in mind for this one and more but we shall see if the plan pans out. Time will be the determining factor. :)
I found this design at Embroidery Library. I do have to say, I really LOVE how their designs stitch out! There is no thread waste whatsoever!!
So, that was our afternoon! What did you accomplish today?
3 links is a charm! Linking...
HERE! HERE! and HERE!
Oh my goodness! Where did you get that cute pattern? I have two live weiner dogs and would love to make one of these......so cute......glad to see a younger generation taking up stitching! I am teaching my 77yr young mother to crazy quilt!
good times that she will remember always.
So cute, the weiner dog. And absolutely gorgous is Allie. You will cherish the time you have spent with her this summer.
The bag is cute also. I bet keeping you in stitches would love that bag.
Oh how cute! It looks like she did a great job with her projects! I remember my mom teaching me to stitch when I was 7 or 8. I've had a needle in my hand ever since!
Your baby is becoming a quilting diva! Isn't it fun to share your passion with her? Hugs, KC1930
Those are sooo cute! I think Allie did a perfect job! I'd even like to make that wiener dog for a present to someone. It's nice to have someone to teach :)
Love seeing you and Allie having such a good time and the fruits of your labours are too cute! Precious memories to treasure :)
Sounds like you girls were having fun. You are so lucky that she wants to come and spend so much time with you and you have the opportunity to teach her things. I always enjoy teaching someone a new thing.
Tell Allie she did a wonderful job with her sewing projects! I remember having summer projects when I was young too. Mine weren't quite such fun-looking ones though. Cross-stitch samplers. lol
I'll be working again on the birth announcement for my grandson (to be born around 11/14/11) when I get back down to the shore Wednesday. Came home to make funeral arrangements for my stepson who drowned. So sad.
What great fun! Love the doggie as well.
I can't wait to have my grandkids eager to stay with grandma and quilt.
Looks like you two are having a great summer together! I hope Allie enjoys hand sewing, it's so relaxing.
